The Apollo Blue and Artemis Pink Diamonds at Sotheby's Geneva

The Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels auction on May 16, 2017 should be quite an exciting one. It will take place in Sotheby's Geneva location, and the highlight of the auction has been called, "the most expensive earrings ever put up for sale."

Presenting (drum roll please) The Apollo and Artemis diamonds, named for the twin Greek brother and sister.

The Apollo diamond is 14.54 carats and is Fancy Vivid Blue, as well as Internally Flawless. While the Artemis is 16 carats and Fancy Intense Pink, with a clarity of VVS2.

The two diamonds are being marketed as a set of earrings, but they are actually two separate lots. Apollo is expected to bring anywhere from $38 million to $50 million, and the Artemis $12 million to $18 million. I will be very curious to see if they are both bought by the same person. Or if the dealers just go for the diamond they want and reset the stone. What do you think?!
