As a kid I loved playing dress up, and one of my favorite accessories was my tiara. The top was always breaking off and my mother was always gluing it back on for me.
My fascination with tiaras has continued into adulthood. Below is a spectacular one!
This Belle Epoque old-cut diamond tiara was part of a large group of exceptional jewels, specially commissioned by Italian jeweler Filippo Chiappe (1863-1936), for the wedding of Count Carlo Raggio and Marchioness Tea Spinola in 1909. Appointed court jeweler to the Savoy House and official supplier to the Italian Royal Family in 1913, Filippo Chiappe is one of the most famous Italian jewelers of his time.
I just love the diamond swags and leaf motifs. Mounted in platinum, I would imagine it is quite heavy.
If I ever could just try it on, I would imagine my response would be something akin to the character Amy Farah Fowler from the television show "The Big Bang Theory."
